 QUALIFYING INFORMATION

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:

Before participating, participants should review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures.

 

FORMAT:

  • All players will participate in an 18-hole, stroke-play qualifier.
  • 156 players (including exempt players) will advance to the 114th California Amateur Championship at Granite Bay GC on June 16 - 21, 2025.
  • The Committee will make the final number of qualifying spots at each site available on the day of play.
  • All ties at the qualifier will be broken using the USGA suggested method of matching scorecards (Committee Procedures: Section 5A (6)).

 

STARTING TIMES & PAIRINGS:

  • Starting times and pairings will be emailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the qualifier.
  • There will not be a player registration process on the morning of the qualifier.
  • Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive once the preceding group has teed off. Players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late.

   

DRIVING RANGE:

The driving range at each site will be available one hour before the first starting time unless otherwise noted in the qualifying site-specific information. Complimentary range balls will be provided to all participants.

 

 

QUALIFYING SITE-SPECIFIC INFORMATION

 

La Purisima GC, Lompoc (Friday, May 2):

  • Practice Rounds: To schedule a practice round, call the golf shop at (805) 735-8395 and identify yourself as a player in the qualifier. Standard rates apply. Based on availability.
  • Tee Markers & Yardages: Play will be from the BLACK tee markers, wherever they are situated. Click here for hole-by-hole yardages.
  • StrackaLine Booklet: The SCGA and StrackaLine have teamed up to allow our participants the availability to purchase StrackaLine Yardage & Green booklets at a discounted price. Please click here to purchase your StrackaLine Booklet. All booklets conform to the Rules of Golf and may be used in tournament play.
  • Food Service & Purchases: The Grill will be open from 7 a.m. through the conclusion of play. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.

GOLF CARTS & PULL/PUSH CARTS:

  • During a round, a player and/or caddie must not ride on any form of motorized transportation except as authorized or later approved by the Committee. Model Local Rule G-6.
  • Players seeking to use a golf cart due to a medical or ADA-related reason must contact the SCGA in advance of the qualifier.
  • Pull or push carts (including motorized pull or push carts) are allowed.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

  • Players may provide their caddie (see section on golf carts).
  • Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the facility.
  • Please see site-specific qualifying information for any restrictions on caddies and/or spectators.

 

DRESS CODE:

Appropriate golf attire must be worn, including adhering to any club-specific policies.

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS:

  • To withdraw for any reason before the start of a SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Championships & Golf Operations Department at champs@scga.org.
  • Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
    • Refund Policy:
      • Cancelation before the entry closing date: Full refund less a $20 administrative fee.
      • Cancelation after the entry closing date and more than 48 hours before the start of the competition: 50% of the entry fee.
      • Cancelation within 48 hours of the start of the competition: No refund.
